Dental Veneers

Dental veneers are a best kept secret for so many patients who come in to correct small imperfections using cosmetic dentistry. Known for their simplicity and resilient, almost instant results, dental veneers are a popular choice for patients who want to improve the appearance of their smile in a way that looks and feels natural. The process takes as little as just one appointment and patients with dental veneers can leave the office with a smile that looks whiter, more aligned and naturally beautiful!

What Are Dental Veneers

Porcelain dental veneers are ideal for restoring stained, cracked, gapped, crooked or misshapen teeth by applying a wafer-thin tooth-colored shell to the surface of the tooth or teeth. Placing custom veneers requires a high degree of technical skill and precision. When Dr. Garrison places dental veneers she pays close attention to involving each patient in the design, fit and feel of each veneer to support each patient’s unique personality, style and individual smile!

Dental Veneers And Your Smile

If a small imperfection in your smile weighs on your mind every time you look in the mirror you may want to consider the benefits of dental veneers:

  • corrects minor chips, cracks, gaps or irregularly shaped teeth

  • yellowed or discolored teeth are sealed with stain resistant porcelain

  • natural looking surface that looks and feels like regular teeth

  • less enamel needs to be removed than with a dental crown

  • long-lasting results needing little change to current dental hygiene routine

Your Appointment With Dr. Garrison

At your visit with Dr. Garrison your teeth are prepared by removing a very thin layer of the tooth enamel from the front sides of the teeth. This process is typically painless but some patients may request anesthetic or sedation dentistry to feel more comfortable during the process. Next, an impression is made of the teeth and the proper shape, design and color of the new veneer is decided on to properly suit your unique smile. After the veneer is made it is checked, adjusted and then cleaned and polished before being bonded to the tooth with a strong dental cement.

Life with Dental Veneers

After your appointment enjoying your new smile is easy! Dental veneers are strong, stain resistant and won’t get cavities, but it is still important to practice a good dental hygiene routine to help them last a long time. Brushing and flossing twice daily, using mouthwash and reducing or avoiding smoking can greatly reduce your chances of developing cavities or decay on surrounding teeth or under your veneers. Because dental veneers can still chip or break under pressure, it is also recommended to use a mouthguard at night if you gnash or clench your teeth in your sleep, and refrain from biting your nails, chewing or biting on hard objects or using your teeth as tools such as to open soda bottles or other hard materials.
