Do I Need Straighter Teeth?
Crooked teeth or a misaligned bite can lead to problems we might not think about until they grow to cause daily hassles or affect our overall health. According to the ADA, crooked teeth can risk more than just a change in your appearance--they may also affect your health. Teeth that are misaligned may have some of the following symptoms:
change in the form of the bite
change in the face shape if surrounding muscles or tissues sag
difficulty cleaning around crooked or misaligned teeth
increased risks for developing gum disease
increased risks of injury, enamel wear and bad breath
oral infections that can lead to heart disease, diabetes, stroke and pneumonia
Benefits of Custom Aligners
True Smiles is a revolutionary approach in discovering seamlessly straighter teeth with comfortable, virtually invisible clear aligners. If you’ve always desired straighter teeth but aren’t willing to hide your smile under bulky metal braces, clear aligners discreetly ease teeth into their proper alignment in just a fraction of the time. Built in the form of strong thermoplastic shields that glide over the teeth, these custom made aligners are growing in popularity for fixing small gaps in the teeth, small crowding issues and some cases of orthodontic relapse--so you don’t have to feel so guilty about forgetting to wear your retainer!
How do True Smiles Custom Aligners Work?
After deciding that True Smiles is right for you, the process begins by taking a digital impression of your teeth, which will serve as a mold for your custom aligners. Using state of the art digital dental technology to track the ideal progression of your teeth, multiple sets of custom aligners are formed. Each set of aligners fits closely over the surface of the teeth and should be worn for 1-2 weeks per set for approximately 22 hours a day, or taken out only for regular eating and cleaning. Once teeth straightening with True Smiles is complete a retainer will be used to keep the teeth in place over time.
Orthodontic Care With Dr. Brenda Garrison
Orthodontics is the branch of dentistry concerned with making corrections to the improper alignment of the teeth or jaw. As your smile transitions with the use of Invisalign clear aligners, our team monitors the changes in your bite to resolve or prevent TMD, a common joint disorder that causes jaw pain when the bite is not in its proper position. Straighter teeth can help realign the bite, reduce unbalanced stress placed on surrounding muscles and joints, and improve the ease of biting, chewing, speaking and even cleaning your teeth.
